Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) grants are now available for business and property owners in the Western/Rock Island TIF District (roughly, Western Avenue from 96 th St. to 119 th St.; 111 th St./Monterey from Vincennes to Sacramento; and the commercial areas around the Metra tracks at 99 th St., 103 rd St., and 107 th St.).

SBIF eligible improvements include, but are not limited to, rehabilitations, remodeling, or renovation of items such as:
- Roof and façade;
- Signs or awnings which are permanently affixed to the building
- Alterations or structures needed for ADA compliance
- HVAC and other mechanical systems
- Certain beautification efforts located in the public way
- Certain environmental remediation measures
- Purchase of adjacent land parcels for purposes of expansion or parking
- Paving of parking facilities.
SBIF grants provide reimbursement for up to 75% of eligible costs with a maximum of $150,000 assistance per project and per applicant.
