Breakfast with the Experts Hosts James Tyree 
 
Chicago-based business and civic leader James C. Tyree kicks off the 2010 Breakfast with the Experts speaker series at Saint Xavier University on Wed., Feb. 3. Tyree is chairman and CEO of the international financial services firm Mesirow Financial, with more than $36 billion under management and $467 million in revenue. Tyree also is chairman of Sun-Times Media Holdings, LLC., which owns the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper plus more than 50 other suburban newspapers and associated websites. He will speak with a Chicago perspective on national and world business issues relating to finance and media, and then answer audience questions.

Folksinger Ella Jenkins Performs Annual Family Concert  
 
Ella Jenkins, the “first lady of children’s folk music,” returns to the Beverly Hills/Morgan Park area on Mon., Jan. 18 to perform her annual family concert celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. The performance begins at 2 to 4 p.m. at Beth Eden Baptist Church, 11121 S. Loomis Ave.

The South Side Irish Parade Committee has announced the South Side Irish Parade Family Fest, a culturally-rich St. Patrick’s Day celebration to be held Sat., Mar. 13. Hosted in conjunction with the Beverly Arts Center, the daylong event will feature activities such as an Irish soda bread contest, a best-dressed “Irish” dog contest, and a children’s parade around the art center grounds.
